Instructions for Round 2 at Big Willow – Apr 16, 2016

Please read carefully and review the following information that we have provided for the Round 2 event this Saturday.

This weekend, we return to the famous Willow Springs International Raceway to take on the fastest road in the West, Big Willow! Please carefully review the information below and feel free to post or send us an email for any questions.

As always, be sure to arrive early so that you have time to get your car and materials settled in. Registration will be begin at 7:00AM. Be sure to fill out your VTEC Club sign-up sheet legibly, which you will find inside the registration building. More importantly, please do not miss the mandatory driver’s meeting for important information about the rules and other track related info.

There are three designated VTEC Club run groups for this event. Run group info and time cut-offs for each are as follows:

  • Group 1/Advance: 1:37 & faster
  • Group 2/Intermediate High: 1:38 – 1:47
  • Group 3/Intermediate Low: 1:48 & up

All beginners are to start in the Blue/Beginners run group, but will be given the option to move up if times and driving reflects eligibility.

These time cut offs are tentative based on run group size, so be sure to check the time sheets, which will be posted in front of the cafeteria, to find out which group you fall into and to see if you moved groups. Anyone in the beginner group is encouraged to seek out one of the instructors to stay safe, get up to speed, and learn some new techniques to work on!

Please listen for announcements or pay attention to the schedule as well as which group is on track. Just as before, we will start pre-gridding when the previous group goes out. The pre-grid area will be located along the hot-pit walls which will be designated by marked cones.

DO NOT BE LATE TO PRE-GRID. Being late will result in starting at the very back of your run group. When arriving to pre-grid, look for one of the grid staff to assign your number, then you will be guided into your grid spot, aided by another grid worker. We would like to be fully gridded before your session begins so that we can get into the hot pits and be ready to launch when our session goes hot. Your cooperation is much appreciated and please do not be afraid to ask any questions you may have.

Be safe, set some fast times, follow instructions, and above all, have fun!
